‘The time when rest needed to be revised’

Welcome to Sunday morning worship. When I think of the seaside I naturally think of sun, sea and sandcastles. Building sandcastles is something I love to do.

There are to my mind two types of sandcastle. There is the soft sand version you play with; mould happily and possibly jump on at the end of the day. The other version is one where you battle your wits against other sandcastle builders to see whose sandcastle resists the power of the sea the longest.

You may not know it but there are a whole set of unwritten rules that govern how this contest takes place and I must admit that when our children were small, once I really lost it because they were not following the rules. For the children, the fun was in helping the sea, instead of resisting it which meant that I ended up shouting at them in quite an irrational manner because they were not following the rules. The fact that I hadn’t told them, or that they’d agreed to the rules was irrelevant; they were ruining my fun.

Yes, I know I was being a real plonker, but it is strange how deep some of these childhood things go and yes, I did apologise too – well, eventually!!

Please take this time to worship and to be encouraged together. You can find the service on our YouTube Channel using the link below. (available from 8 am on Sunday 30th May)
