Thought For The Week – 29th August

Matthew 18 2-6

Jesus called a small child over to him and put the child among them Then he said ‘I assure you unless you turn from your sins and become as little children you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf, welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who trusts in me to lose faith, it would be better for that person to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone around his neck’

Matthew 19 13-15

Some children were brought to Jesus so that He could lay His hands on them and pray for them. The disciples told them not to bother Jesus. But Jesus said ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.’ And He put His hands on them and blessed them before He left.

Well here we are 2 days into Holiday Club, we are so glad to be able to welcome the children and their families in person this year. We have just over half of the children we usually have, that is so calm and manageable. It is giving us plenty of time to spend chatting to the children and getting to know them.

Jesus was very specific about the value He puts on children and gives us some great advice about how to deal with them. They are tremendous blessing and a great responsibility.

At Monday prayers we prayed for Dronfield children, families struggling to afford new uniforms, the children in dreadful situations around the world (particularly Afghanistan and Haiti), the Douglas family children and all children and families of Ministers and finished by praying and thanking God for our own dearly loved children.

Let’s pray together for Andrew and all his team, for strength and patience, and for the children to remember all the love, prayers and teaching and fun of the week.
